Judge Erin Wiley LANOUX
Ascension Parish Court
Erin Wiley Lanoux was elected Judge of Ascension Parish Court in November of 2018 and took office in January of 2019 for a six-year term.
Judge Lanoux is a native of Gonzales, Louisiana. She is a graduate of East Ascension High School and then obtained her undergraduate degree from LSU in Economics. She then earned her Juris Doctor in 2003 from the LSU Law Center, where she was selected for the Louisiana Law Review and received numerous academic awards.
Before taking the bench, Judge Lanoux practiced law in Ascension Parish. She was an experienced litigator in many areas of the law. In addition to her private practice, Judge Lanoux served as the appointed City Attorney for the City of Gonzales.
Judge Lanoux is currently an active member of the City Judges Association, the Rotary Club of East Ascension and has served on the Board of Directors for the Ascension Chamber of Commerce, including as Chairwoman of the Board in 2017. She is a 2009 graduate of Leadership Ascension. Erin is a member of the 23rd Judicial District Bar Association and previously served as its President in 2016.
One of Judge Lanoux’s proudest accomplishments is having co-founded Project Kidz Kove, a charitable organization that successfully fundraised, designed, and built an accessible playground for children with disabilities – Kidz Kove Discovery Park in Gonzales.
Judge Lanoux presides over all traffic and misdemeanor crimes in Ascension Parish as well as civil claims and juvenile/child in need of care cases. In her first year in office, her court disposed of over 10,000 cases. In any given week, she has the privilege of speaking with hundreds of Ascension Parish citizens in court and takes pride in being respectful yet firm and fair to each and every one of them.
Judge Lanoux is married to Jay Lanoux and they have three daughters, Abby, Audrey, and Alex. They are active members of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church.
